Dazed and Confused

So after very stupidly managing to delete about 6 of my blog posts a while ago I felt i needed to re upload this shoot as it was something that I work extremely hard on and am very proud of. Back in Art College I have to create a front cover for Dazed and Confused magazine and this is what I came up with. The idea behind it was kind of 'dark fairytales' and having that contrast between something so pure and innocent looking and something quite dramatic and contrasting.

Psychedelic Ganesh Tank

So one of my most recent buys was this Psychedelic Ganesh Tank from urban outfitters which i absolutely love! The link for it is here http://www.urbanoutfitters.co.uk/title-unknown-psychedelic-ganesh-tank/invt/5111424668637/

I have to say im really liking how Urban outfitters are stocking loads of indian and eqyptian themed clothing I haven't really seen another high street shop stock so much!
Heres a few other examples of what they have :

Locket Ship!

So I was browsing around today and came across one of the most quirky jewellery lines I have seen for a long time called Locket ship! The huge variety of colourful pieces are full of cute cats and animals, unicorns and other whimsical artwork contained within the pieces. All the jewellery is hand made by the designer Maria Ewing and she has become well known for the open-faced pendants, which encases photographs and artwork inside translucent epoxy resin! and I think they look absolutely amazing don't you? They are exactly my style and next pay day I will no doubt be investing in one!

CFDA awards

So I was looking through the guests that arrived at the CFDA awards and thought I would share with you my top outfits that I felt really stood out!
Jessica Stam - I thought choosing a short dress for such an elaborate event could have been a bit too plain and risky for Jessica, however I think it works really well! The pale yellow refects the summertime and shows off her long legs while she adds in a pop of colour through her shoes and necklace.
Adriana Lima - I really think Adriana has to be one of the most stunning women in the world right now and this dress does her even more justice. The see through mesh skirt keeps a link in with the typical ball gown one might wear to such an even, while also showing off her beautiful legs and adding a modern twist. To be honest she could wear a bin bag and look stunning in my opinion!
Erin Wasson - I have to say this dress couldn't be anymore flattering on Erin, the bright white is summery and brings out a glow in her skin while the detailing on the dress slightly shows off her perfect abs.
Harley Viera - It was nice to see somebody in a tailored suit and I have to say she looks really cute and smart!
Miranda Kerr - I thought this dress was so much different to the rest I love the sheen that the material has to it and absolutely love the straps on the shoes.

Photographs owned by Vogue.

My favourite fashion photographers right now

1. David La Chapelle
David La chapelle has always been one of my favourite fashion photographers purely because of the extreme amount of colour he uses that just explodes from the picture. The subjects of his shoots are always very surreal and bizarre and very wacky which is something that I feel sets him apart from the rest.

 2. Alex Sainsbury
I recently came across the work of Alex sainsbury and have to say I think its very unique in the way it contrasts the emotion of the model and the colours and clothing used. I really like how the picture its bright and colourful but at the same time keeps its seriousness.

 3.Arnaud Pyvka
This Photographer caught my eye because of the toned down colour thats used in all their photographs, this style of colour gives every shoot a very vintage feel.
 4.Greg Kadel
I really love crisp, clear black and white photography and this shoot fits the bill perfectly for me. The thing I find interesting about this photograph is how the dark eyes act as if they are pulling the viewer in and look almost sinister, and around the eyes, everything is very neutral and grey and elegant to contrast the dark eyes.
5. JUCO
This has to be one of the best shoots I have ever seen. I love the overdose of patterned wallpaper you get which is broken up by the model and the bird.
6. Nick Knight
This picture has become rather well known in the fashion world and I have to agree that it deserves to be famous. I love the movement that is created in the clothing and how the models look giant and intimidating.

7. Steven Meisel
I once studied boyart and pin up style for one of my college projects and happened to come across this photoshoot to add to my research. I really love how the model's clothing is pretty much camoflaged into the mulitple amounts of layered fabrics and patterns and textures.
 8.Thierry Le Goues
Thierry Le Goues work normally consists of very bright bold colourful photography, however I really took a liking to this black and white picture in particular. The contrast between light and dark is very dramatic on the models features and I like the movement created in the hair.
9.Tim Walker
Tim Walker is also one of my favourite fashion designers. I love how he never fails to transport you into some fairytale surreal land. However, the element that gives him the edge over other typical fairytale photography is how there is always a dark sinister edge to these princess photographs which gives it a very grown up feeling.

Contrast photoshoot 2

So this contrast shoot was about mixing the typical things you find in summer ie, bright colours, bright clothing, ice lollies and outdoor activities such as swimming and contrasting them with a dark dim winters day in a location ( on top of a building ) that you would never normally see such things going on.

Fairytale contrast photoshoot!

This is another shoot I did for my uni project and I came across it today and had to share it with you. Its all about contrast and I chose to over lap a fairytale theme with a more urban dark side.  Me and my friend managed to find these ruins of an old church hidden behind a load of urban dirty looking buildings. A also love the colours I captured in the photo's from the browns and greens of the autum leaves! I really enjoyed creating this shoot and I hope you like the photographs! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
